Future Continuous Form : ( Will be + verb + -ing )

In English we use the future continuous for :

  • an action in progress at a point in time in the future
  • an action in progress in the normal course of events without any plan or intention

Notes for use of future continuous :

As with other continuous verb forms, we don't usually use state verbs with the future continuous.

The table below shows the different forms of future continuous :

Example verb : doI / You / We / They / He / She / It
Positive...'ll be doing ...
Negative... won't be doing ...
QuestionsWill ... be doing ...?
Short answers

Yes, ... will. /

No, ... won't.

Future Continuous Example Sentences :

Positive Examples of Future Continuous :

  • This time tomorrow we'll be sitting on a beach in Hawaii. 
  • I'll be walking past the post office on my way home, so I can post it for you.
  • This time next year I'll be living in London.

Negative Examples of Future Continuous :

  • This time next week I won't be working!
  • At the end of the month we'll be celebrating your retirement.
  • In two hours' time we'll be flying to Paris.

Question Examples of Future Continuous :

  • What will you be doing this time next year?
  • Will they be living in their new house this time next month?
  • Where will she be living when she moves to the UK?
